Music giant EMI yesterday announced that it will combine two of the music industry's biggest labels, Capitol Records and Virgin Records America, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.
Janet has been signed with Virgin Records since 1991, and then re-signed in 1996, however with the release of "20 Y.O." she has fulfilled all of the requirements for new studio albums under her current contract. The only thing remaining under her contract, according to previously published reports, is to release a greatest hits compilation album.
It remains to be seen how this merger may effect Janet's stance at the record label. Current rumors are that she has been negotiating with several other labels for a new contract, however nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
EMI has been in a widely publicized reorganization of their company through the past few months, a move that was prompted because of disappointing record sales. The newly merged label will retain the Capitol Music Group name.
The following list represents the Billboard positions for "With U," "So Excited" and "Call On Me" on each of the singles charts and for "20 Y.O." on each of the album charts for the week ending February 3, 2007.
The "20 Y.O." album sold 3,070 copies during its seventeenth week of sales, bringing its total to 620,285 copies sold in the US, according to SoundScan.
"With U" debuts on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart due to street date violations from the 12" vinyl single.

She tells a story about hitting a Malibu grocery store a few years ago with Missy Elliott. "I'm seeing this square thing [at the checkout], and I'm like, 'What's this, you guys?' " Jackson says. "And Missy just looked at me. And they said, 'That's so you can use your credit card .' And I said, 'You can use your credit card in grocery stores now?' Missy cracked up laughing...I didn't know."

"She's voluptuous and, surprisingly, still has this childish appeal that gives her a special edge. The pictures are really simple snapshots really, but they convey the steamy atmosphere of the shoot," Goude said.
Janet's headdress is Dior Haute Couture by John Galliano. Her makeup is M.A.C. Eye Shadow in folie and Lipstick in deep love.
