Janet has signed on to star opposite Tyler Perry in his next film, "Why Did I Get Married," based on the filmmaker's stage play of the same name, Variety.com is reporting.
Sources familiar with the project have confirmed to Janet Xone that the film is in pre-production and Janet has indeed signed on.
Perry is writing, directing and producing the film for Lions Gate. The film is set to being shooting on March 5 in Whistler, British Columbia; Vancouver; and then Atlanta.
Sharon Leal ("Dreamgirls") and Jill Scott have also joined the cast.
The film revolves around a couple who go away with friends every winter to examine their marriages in a group setting. One of the wives brings along a sexy young temptress who causes plenty of trouble for the couples.
Perry is best known for producing melodramas for the stage and screen that feature African-American characters in moral quandaries. His most recent film, "Daddy's Little Girls," is currently in theaters.

Janet attended Jennifer Hudson's Pre-Oscars Party last night at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills along with friend Gil Duldulao.
The party was thrown by Giant Magazine and actor Jamie Foxx in honor of Jennifer Hudson's Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for her role in the film Dreamgirls.

Janet attended two pre-Grammy parties this weekend along with Gil Duldulao and Jermaine Dupri.
The first party was Clive Davis's Pre-Grammy Awards Party held at the Beverly Hills Hilton on Saturday, February 10. The second party was Jermaine Dupri's Atlanta Invasion 2007 Pre-Grammy Celebration held the same day at the Pacific Theatre in Hollywood.
Although "20 Y.O." was nominated at Sunday night's Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary R&B album, it did not win.

Although it is not explicitly stated, many fans online are assuming that he is implying the announcement will be made on Wednesday, February 14, which is Valentine's Day.
There has been no official word that a tour announcement is indeed upcoming, however Gil had also been hinting through several other recent online postings that one would be coming soon.
