Janet Jackson reality series holds auditions Tuesday, July 01, 2008 | 3:24 PM
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago native might be Janet Jackson's new protege.
About 100 people between the ages of 16 and 22 showed up Tuesday to audition for a reality show offering the winner a chance to work with the music icon.
Jackson and MTV Networks are teaming up on a new reality series in which Jackson will mentor aspiring singers, dancers and actors. Casting directors visited the Joel Hall Dance Center on the North Side to asses the local talent.
"We are looking for raw, great talent in the world of singing, dancing and eventually acting. We are looking for someone who has heart and really wants it, not necessarily someone who has had all the training," said one of the casting directors.
The winner of the show will win a management and recording contract.
"Chicagoans are really holding their own and representing Chi-Town to its fullest," the casting director said.
